AP English Literature and Composition (Period 3A)
Course Description
The course will focus on reading and interpreting literature, as well as writing to develop critical thinking and style. Course goals are to foster a love of literature, to prepare students to succeed in college and careers, and to help students to pass the AP Literature Exam. The AP exam is approximately three hours long and has two parts: multiple-choice and essay portions. The multiple-choice section is worth 45% and the essay section is worth 55% of the final exam grade. All students are expected to take the exam. If they do not, they are required to take a full length AP exam as the semester two final.
