Casey Rummel Bio

I was born in La Mesa in 1987. I grew up mostly in California but I spent a few of my younger years in Washington, D.C., as my father was in the Navy. I attended Grossmont High School, playing basketball while there. I then attended UC Santa Cruz, where I studied Environmental Studies and played for the ultimate frisbee team. After earning my bachelors in Environmental Studies, I returned to UCSC for my Master's in Education, graduating in 2011.

This is my 12th year teaching. I spent one year in Los Angeles teaching U.S. History, five years teaching English in Richmond, CA, and five years teaching English in Seattle. I coached high school varsity soccer the last ten years, in Richmond and Seattle.

I am married with two children, ages 3 and 1. In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, gardening, traveling, relaxing with family, reading, playing fantasy baseball, watching movies, throwing a frisbee, and hiking. My favorite music genres are reggae, folk, and blues.
